We are seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to join a luxury resort in Zanzibar. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in similar category hotels or resorts, with previous experience in Asia, Africa, and/or the Middle East. This role requires a high level of technical skill, creativity, and leadership to deliver exceptional pastry products aligned with the resort’s culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee the pastry and bakery section of the resort.
* Design, develop, and update dessert, pastry, and bakery offerings for:
* À la carte restaurants
* Buffets
* Special events and banquets
* Ensure the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency across all pastry products.
* Supervise, train, and motivate the pastry team.
* Control food cost, waste, and ordering processes.
* Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP regulations.
* Work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menu planning and special events.
* Adapt pastry offerings to an international clientele, considering cultural preferences and dietary requirements.
Requirements
* Professional qualification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or related field.
* Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in similar category hotels or resorts, preferably in Asia, Africa, and/or the Middle East.
* Proven experience working in multicultural and international environments.
* Strong technical knowledge of classic and international pastry techniques.
* Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work in remote locations.
* Professional level of English (mandatory).
Desirable
* Previous experience in luxury or all-inclusive resorts.
* Knowledge of modern pastry trends, healthy desserts, and international concepts.
* Experience in hotel openings or pre-opening phases.
